Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister Angela Gerekou outlined the key-points of the government's new policy on tourism, speaking on Monday at the World Travel Market (WTM) international travel show in London.

The deputy minister underlined the necessity for slashing red tape, developing "green tourism" and a national strategic marketing plan, as well as upgrading the available tourist product.

Regarding green growth, the main goal is to support investment plans that will contribute to saving energy and resources, using renewables and reducing waste.

Inaugurating the Greek pavilion at the WTM exhibition, Gerekou underlined that Greece can offer quality tourism services despite the economic crisis.
