Our country assumes the 10th rotating Chairmanship of the Human Security Network (HSN) in May 2007.
The priority of the Greek Chairmanship of the HSN will be the threats which climate change poses to human security, with emphasis on vulnerable groups.
Within the framework of the Greek Chairmanship a series of meetings and events will take place with the participation of politicians, diplomats, academia and the civil society.
The objective of the Greek Chairmanship is to raise awareness among the international community on the impact of climate change and global warming on human security, particularly using the world’s vulnerable population groups as its point of reference.
Greece’s active presence within the HSN reconfirms our country’s image as a “soft power” in the region of Southeastern Europe and beyond, promoting respect for human rights and the principles of international law, as well as believing in the power of dialogue, and thus contributing to the consolidation of peace and stability across the world.
