Alternate Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas along with Defence Minister Evangelos Venizelos participate at a meeting of the General Affairs and External Relations Council in Brussels (November 16-17), to prepare both the extra (November 19), as well as the regular European Council (December 10-11).
The agenda includes, inter alia, the Lisbon Strategy which as Droutsas commented has to be reviewed, focusing on growth, social protection and environmental perspective; EU-Russia relations in view of the EU-Russia Summit (November 18).
Greece believes that closer cooperation with Russia is in the EU's interest and it is to this end that the Greek OSCE chairmanship wishes to encourage further cooperation for a new European security architecture, taking advantage of the momentum created within the framework of the OSCE Corfu Process.
