Speaking at a press conference upon his return from Washington, Government Vice-president and Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos said that representatives from the International Monetary Fund, the European Commission and the European Central Bank will return to Athens this week and that "the disbursement will be decided in time, in line with the course of our funding needs."
He also stressed that Greece makes "painful" efforts to achieve its fiscal targets and to fully meet its commitments, adding that reinstating the country’s international credibility and reputation is a top priority. Furthermore, Venizelos announced that the tax-free threshold will be reduced to € 5,000 for 2011 and that there will be an increase in the receipts per income ratio, which currently stands at 25%. The new measures are expected to be voted by the Parliament at the end of October or early November. Source: GREEK NEWS AGENDA issued by the Secretariat Genera
