Prime Minister George Papandreou held talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin yesterday in Moscow, covering a wide range of political, economic, trade and energy issues.
They both expressed their desire to further enhance cooperation between the two countries in economy, trade, and culture for which they signed an agreement for 2012-2014. Papandreou and Putin focused mostly on the Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline and the South Stream natural gas projects.
"Greek-Russian bilateral relations would help both countries overcome their economic difficulties" said Putin, noting that Greece could become a major energy and transport hub in Europe.
On his part, Papandreou praised the excellent relations between the two countries, expressing hope for further cooperation in tourism, agriculture and transport sector.
