Prime Minister George Papandreou visited Vienna on June 11 to attend the 2010 IIF Spring Membership Meeting of the Institute of International Finance -a global association of the world's top financial institutions.   

Addressing the meeting, Papandreou reaffirmed that Greece will honour its contract with the financial community, by following its fiscal consolidation programme already on track.

"We have taken tough but necessary decisions […] and we are now witnessing the first signs that we are turning the corner," said the premier in his speech.

"Greece has tremendous growth potential waiting to be realized," Papandreou added, underlining that "we are well within the targets we have set and expect to remain so." During his visit to Austria, the premier also held meetings with Austrian President Heinz Fischer and Chancellor Werner Faymann, briefing them on the current situation of Greek economy.
