US participation in the Cultural Olympiad and other cultural issues concerning Greece and the United States were discussed during a meeting on Wednesday between Culture Minister Evangelos Venizelos and outgoing US Ambassador to Athens Nicholas Burns.
Also discussed were the activities of American cultural institutes in Greece and a bilateral agreement for the protection of cultural goods that is being negotiated.
This was Burns' farewell visit to the culture minister before he leaves for Brussels, where he is to take over as the US permanent representative to NATO.
