Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas participated in the 2nd meeting of the International Contact Group on Libya yesterday in Rome. The participants of the Contact Group meeting which was co-chaired by Italy and Qatar expressed their deep solidarity with the Libyan people struggling for democracy.
They also welcomed the first Report by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court on the Qadhafi regime’s crimes against humanity, presented to the UN Security Council on 4 May, as well as the Interim National Council’s (INC) Road Map for Libya, which it considered an important contribution to the transition process.
After the meeting, Droutsas said that "it was confirmed today that the international community is speaking with a single voice on the Libya issue, […] but as Greece has stressed from the very outset: this crisis cannot be solved through military means alone."
