Foreign Minister George Papandreou was due to meet Organizing Committee President Mitt Romney of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games late on Thursday to achieve coordination between Salt Lake City and Athens on a series of issues, such as security, since Athens will be organizing the 2004 Olympic Games. As already known, Greek police officers will be following preparations for the 2002 Games.
Papandreou held lengthy talks on the organization of the 2004 Olympiad with California Governor Grey Davis in Sacramento on Wednesday.
The state of California holds sixth place among economies in the world and interest to invest in major projects scheduled for the Olympiad is self-evident.
