Exhibition on Minoan civilization inaugurated in New York

An exhibition titled “From the Land of the Labyrinth: Minoan Crete, 3000-1100 B.C.” was inaugurated in Manhattan on Wednesday.

Present at the inauguration was Greek Culture Minister Mihalis Liapis and New Democracy (ND) party honorary president Constantine Mitsotakis.

“It concerns a unique exhibition and we are really moved that in this megalopolis we see Greece," Liapis said during a press conference he gave at the Alexandros Onassis Foundation in Manhattan.

“All who will visit this exhibition will be impressed and I am obliged to congratulate those who had the inspiration and the initiative to bring these 280 exhibits and particularly the Onassis Foundation,” the Greek culture minister added.

Taking part in the press conference were also the president of the Alexandros Onassis Foundation, Antonis Papadimitriou and the supervisor of the exhibition, archaeologist Maria Andreadaki Vlazaki. The speakers were presented by the executive director of the Onassis Foundation in New York, Ambassador Loukas Tsilas.
Earlier in the day, Liapis met with Archbishop of America Dimitrios.
