The European Parliament's session got under way in Strasbourg on Monday with the observance of a minute's silence for the wildfire victims, while a discussion followed on the wildfires in Greece with addresses by Greek and foreign Eurodeputies.
Feelings of sympathy for the Greek wildfire stricken and the families of the victims were expressed by all sides.
European Solidarity, with speedy response and a reduction of bureaucracy were the points stressed in most addresses to enable European Union countries to face crises and natural disasters that can be caused in the future by climatic changes or by other causes.
The political groups also prepared a joint resolution that will be presented for ratification on Tuesday.
