Greek Economic Program gets good progress report by Troika experts
A Greek government's three-year economic restructuring program has begun implemented dynamically, with all quantitive performance criteria met in June 2010, led by an efficient implementation of a fiscal program, while significant reforms were under way in an advanced stage, troika officials announced August 5.
The experts from the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund stressed that Greek authorities managed to contain regular budget spending beyond the program's targets, thus achieving a target set for cutting fiscal deficit by the end of June. They also expressed their satisfaction over structural reforms in the country and welcomed the introduction of a new law aimed at reforming the pension system, according to international standards. More fundamental reforms are curently underway on the tax system, in the labor market, in the transport and energy markets, etc.
