Deputy culture minister for sport holds talks with Shanghai mayor

Deputy Culture Minister for Sport George Orfanos, shortly before leaving China to return to Athens on Friday, held talks with the Special Olympics Vice President and Shanghai Mayor Joau Yen Tong.

"We talked about the close relations between the two countries and, in particular, about the change in the hosting of the Olympic Games, Athens 2004-Beijing 2008, and the holding of the World Special Olympics in Beijing in 2007 and Athens in 2011," Orfanos said after the meeting.

"Mr. Tong will head a group of 70 people who will be coming to Athens for the Olympic Flame delivery ceremony for the Special Olympics. Our cooperation in the sports sector will continue. It is a course that will last for a long time. The bonds of friendship between the two peoples will become stronger with sport," he added.
