GREECE: REPOSITIONED AND REBRANDED

Minister of Tourism Aris Spiliotopoulos visited London (November 10-13), on the occasion of the World Travel Market, a leading B2B exhibition for the travel industry.

Inaugurating the Greek pavilion at the exhibition, Spiliotopoulos stressed that Greece has been projecting a new brand identity based on new aesthetics and a modern advertising campaign adjusted to current trends such as investment in digital technology, quality in services and infrastructure as well as green policies in tourism development. In this respect Spiliotopoulos announced that a new portal for the promotion of Greek tourism www.visitgreece.gr will be available in 2009.

During his visit to London, Spiliotopoulos held talks with various representatives of the tourism industry as well as London Mayor Boris Johnson. Following the meeting the Greek minister revealed that Boris Johnson will visit Greece to discuss ways for closer bilateral cooperation, as the Mayor expressed an interest in the ministry's "green" initiatives.
